A pre-eminent South African Global engineering design and project management company, DRA Global has been involved since inception with concept design through to definitive engineering design. As the designated project manager, DRA Global will be responsible for all technical management, and detailed design approval through toe commissioning. DRA Global have been responsible for the detailed electrical E&IC systems for the project and will be responsible for the construction and installation of this area of the project as well as managing the interface with Eskom NTCSA.

Moto Engil following an open bid process was selected as the civil engineering contractor for the project. Moto Engil have a long track record of bridge construction in South Africa and have arrangements with three major South African civil contractors.
Siemens Energy have been working with Anchor Energy for many years in developing a unique solution for Africa, initially commencing in the Democratic republic of CONGO (DRC). The “power barge” concept was designed by Siemens in Germany and has been modified and purpose designed for the Richards Bay project.
Wison was selected by Siemens as the preferred ship builder partner for the barges based upon their proven track record and ability to build 4 barges at a time. Given the urgency of the project Wison will assume overall responsibility for delivering the operational 650 MW power barges in conjunction with Siemens Energy.

SES identified the impacts to be assessed, appointed specialist consultants to execute the various studies and compiled the final submissions to the Department Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment.
Hitachi Japan was selected following a bid proposal as the supplier of all gas insulated piping (GIL) for the electrical transmission infrastructure on the marine structures as well as the overland bridge connecting with the 400kV sub-station on Bayside. Hitachi are world leaders in the technology and have facilities in Japan capable of producing the quantity of GIL required in the time available.
